Event Colors: Online Color Selection Tools

Selecting your event colors can be difficult. Your favorite color may look good on a shirt but it may not look great in an entire room. If you’re like me, you don’t have a favorite color, instead, there are a few colors you like but none really stand out. Either way, picking your final event colors can be a challenge. Which colors look best together? Which hue? Which color should be dominant and which should be accents? And so on and so forth.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a tool that allowed you to search for colors or to input a color and then suggested other colors that coordinate well with the main color? There is! In fact, there are a number of online tools that let you play with color palettes and discover new colors. Selecting your event colors just got easier. A few of our favorite tools are:

Design Seed – Design Seed’s search function allows you to search by theme. This is a great place to start if you have a color in mind and are looking for good coordinating colors. You can also browse their images, find a color you like and view similar colors.

Colrd – Colrd is a great tool if you are searching for an off beat color (beyond the basic primary colors). For instance, if you want to use pink, use this tool explore the different hues of pink. Find the color you love, download it and share it with your vendors so they have the exact color that you want to use.

Adobe Kuler – Adobe Kuler uses the color wheel to help you find other colors. Use the drop down menu to search by color rule.

Color Explorer – Color Explorer allows you to import a color from an image, create a matching color pallet or simply explore their library of colors.

Play around with these online tools and find the one that is easiest for you to use. Then input different colors that you like and see where the tool takes you!

Have fun and let us know which tool you like. Have a different tool that you like to use to pick your event colors? Share it with the ACC community in the comments below.
