Beverage Selection Party: Your Secret Weapon to Selecting a Bar Menu

Let’s say you’ve narrowed down your wedding bar menu to a handful of potential specialty drinks, beers or wines. Making that final decision can be tough. How do you know which drink a majority of your guests like? Ask them! Let your friends select your wedding bar menu. Host  a beverage selection party.

The idea is simple.

Host a dinner or an engagement party and serve your guests your short list of drink options.  You can either tell them what you are up to or you can keep it secret (they’ll put it all together at the wedding and the surprise might be fun).  If you tell them, you should take a formal tally of everyone’s favorite beverage to keep things organized.  Click here for an example of drink scorecard.

At the end of the event, the majority of the group will have selected one or two top choices.

The beverage selection party doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.  Serve a few appetizers and palate cleansers at most.  Your guests will have so much fun tasting the various drinks they will not notice that you did not serve a full meal.

A beverage selection party is also a great way to invite your guests into the planning process.  Your friends and family probably want to help but they do not know what to do. The selection party is a great way for your friends and family to feel useful and it takes one thing off your to-do list.
